Florence [Italy]: Verdict of the court of review concerning the events of 1st January 2017 [en]

From the local press we learn that the court of review pronounced a verdict concerning the prosecutor’s appeal against the orders of release concerning the comrades arrested following an attack on a Casapound bookshop on 1st January 2017.

The court rejected the prosecutor’s appeal for all the comrades except:

Paska, currently being held in Lecce on charges of organized crimes, against whom serious evidence against him was apparently identified concerning the fabrication of the device on 1st January. His situation has therefore worsened as he’s being held not only for ‘organized crime’ but also for charges related to the attack.

Czech Republic: Lukáš Borl — All power to the imagination? (12/11/2017) [en]

When extensive strikes and workers’ and students’ riots took place in France at 1968, one of the slogans back then was “All power to the imagination”. Czech police and courts now have their own interpretation. They assert their authority through fostering their own imagination.

When police wanted the arrest warrant on me, their claimed reasons for that were speculative statements and bunch of random bullshit. Obviously, it was enough for getting the warrant. It is even scary, how powerful their imagination can be.

Milan [Italy]: Action against Benetton (02/10/2017) [en]

On Tuesday, October 2nd, we paid a visit to a Benetton store in Bresso, near Milan, to remind him that his business is covered in Mapuche blood and in response to the call for action for reappearance of the anarchist Santiago. The Benetton is directly responsible for the genocide carried out by Argentine and Chilean States against Mapuche people. Benetton is an example of a capitalist and colonialist company. We glued up the front door lock and dropped of flyers, and when we was about to do something more a security guard appeared and interrupted our action.

Italy: Open Letter To The Anarchist & Anti-Authoritarian Movement (2003) [en]

Released by the FAI (Informal) in 2003 after a series of letter-bomb attacks against State targets across the EU.

As the consolidation of the EU is going on quickly and assuming all the wickedness of the political, economic, military-repressive choices of the various States, and as a European constitution that re-establishes and legitimates EU dominion is about to be ratified, the first Informal Anarchist Federation struggle campaign has started. We could not deny ourselves the pleasure of actively criticising the six-month’s Italian presidency of the EU, which is coming to an end. We are aware that, behind any official rhetoric, the decisions that have been taken during the last months will bring about new practises of exploitation and dominion. In Fortress Europe, where not only the borders between exploiters and exploited are defended with the arms, we oppose trade agreements and the militarization of the territory with free agreements between those who struggle against dominion, as we want to demonstrate that not only is the struggle possible, but it is also an absolute necessity.

Italy: Two communiques from imprisoned anarchist Salvatore Vespertino – Ghespe [it]

Here are two communiques by Ghespe, written with a month between them

I was arrested along with 7 other people in the umpteenth Digos [General Investigations and Special Operations Division] and ROS [Special Operations Group of Carabinieri], operation. Imagination never fails that scum (wish their health also failed them) and anyone who even just glanced at the newspapers knows very well how they went crazy this time too. But it must be said that although the papers read like a thriller (pretty third rate), they mention 3 events that have little to do with the imagination: the Molotov that flew over the Carabinieri barracks in Rovezzano in April, the ‘device’ that exploded at the casapound bookshop ‘il bargello’, where a specialized police bomb disposal expert lost an eye and a hand, and the fact that all those arrested are anarchists. Up until now Paska and I are the only ones to be held in jail.

Italy: News from Florence (10/2017) [en]

On the 1st of January 2017, following the explosion of home-made bomb in front of the fascist bookshop in which a policeman from the bomb disposal unit lost a hand and an eye, several homes of comrades were searched. The police were hoping to find firearms and/or explosives. The searches didn’t lead to nothing except for the seizure of pamphlets, computers, clothing and other generic objects (or can say materials). An investigation against persons unknown was launched with intention to charge with the offences “manufacturing, possession, and transportation of an explosive or incendiary device to a public place” and “attempted murder”.

Italy: Call for International Solidarity on 16 November — Scripta Manent Trial [en]

On November 16th, at 10 am, in front of the high security court in Turin, will be held the first hearing of the trial Scripta Manent, and it will be a long-running case, in which 22 anarchist comrades are charged, and seven of them are still in prison.

Italy: Updates on anarchist comrade Pierloreto Fallanca — Pasca (10/2017) [en]

From a letter dated 1st October received from the prison in Lecce, we learned of Paska’s intention to begin a hunger strike next day, and to stage several protests against his prison conditions throughout the month of October, until he’s moved to another unit or prison.

He was arrested on 3rd August and held in the prison of Lecce. Initially Paska was kept in solitary confinement, then he was transferred to the ‘arrivals’ unit where he is still being held. In the ‘arrivals’ unit, unlike the others, the (single) cells remain locked all day: the only times of sociality are 2 hours in the exercise yard in the morning and in the afternoon and in the recreation hall. Requests for special visits have always been rejected on the pretext of formalities. As concerns telephone calls the procedure continues to be troubled, whereas censorship of letters was revoked recently.

Italy: Anarchist comrades Billy, Costa and Silvia have trial process ended (10/2017) [en]

A few days ago the trial court in Turin held a hearing of the trial going on in the Italian state against eco-anarchist comrades Billy, Costa and Silvia. The Supreme Court confirmed the “non-procedural default of jurisdiction”, as already decided at first instance and in appeal, for the principle of not being able to process twice a defendant for the same act. It then closes once and for all, with this definitive decision, their affair in the state courts.

The trial that will see Riccardo accused will be held on 5 October at 9.00 at the court of Altona – Hamburg (Max Bauer Allee 91.)
It will be open but we donot yet know whether the judgment will be on the same day or will slip to another date. It depends on the hearing (in many cases they have been judged in a single day also because the defendants have confessed).
He will be judged by the second degree court that has sentences from two years upwards (in Germany the courts are divided into 3 levels based on the requested sentence, it is not a special court).
The formal charges are: breach of the peace, attack by assault and resistance.
Regarding mail censorship, there have not been any systematic blocks but some letters are blocked (so far they are 3, spread over time: a postcard, a letter, an envelope containing newspapers from Hamburg). Then envelopes containing counter-informative material and brochures were blocked.

Italy: Anarchist newspaper “Vetriolo” issue 1 is out, autumn 2017 [en]

We published issue 1 of anarchist paper Vetriolo at last. At the same time we also printed issue 0 for those who have recently asked for copies, as it had been out of stock for a while. After several months of censorship the contribution anarchist comrade Alfredo Cospito wrote last winter for the previous issue has arrived. His letter had been blocked and seized on order of inquisitor judge Sparagna, the “scripta manent” operation’s instigator.
In this new issue there’s space for analysis on questions that were raised in the previous one, in particular the questions of cities, political alliances and internationalism, the history of the exploited’ movement and the continuation of an attempt at the analysis and elaboration of an anarchist theory of the State. Moreover we also treated other questions: a critical reflection of the concept of consistency; another one on survival in urban spaces and the changes that the latter undergo; an article of analysis on technology, in particular robotics, from an ecological point of view and in terms of its social and antisocial consequences. We dedicate an important part to the issue of “war”. With our often bitter tone and polemic articles we

On 23/8, mail censorship expired for anarchist comrades Alfredo Cospito, Nicola Gai, Danilo Cremonese, Valentina Speziale, Anna Beniamino, Alessandro Mercogliano, Marco Bisesti. Turin prosecutors can’t renew it but the prison can for ‘security reasons’.
Some of the letters were unblocked and are circulating more quickly. But we don’t exclude that letters might be blocked again.

Today 25/8/ the court of review decided over anarchist comrade Salvatore Vespertino, and the result will be known in a few days. In the meantime through his letters Salvatore asks for anarchist publications and tells us that hard cover books are not handed out.
As far as anarchist comrade Pierloreto Fallanca is concerned, we learn that he’s subjected to censorship, and that the investigating judge issued another order of remand in custody for criminal association, thus withdrawing the charge of participation in the 1st January attack in Florence for which he had been originally arrested.

Calabria [Italy]: Communiqué about the arrests made in Florence (07/08/2017) [en]

We have learned that on August 3d, 8 anarchist comrades have been arrested, because accused of throwing several molotovs against the barracks [of carabineri] in Rovezzano [suburb of Florence], an event which took place on 21 April 2016, and of placing an explosive device near the bookshop of Casa Pound [fascist association] in Florence on 1 January 2017.
We do not need to know who realized these actions. We do not want to flatten our solidarity on the recoverable fields of anti-fascism and repression, we are aware that the struggle for destruction of power and all authority also implies an attack against its closest collaborators.
The topics and the timing of legality are not our concern. Therefore, we express our unconditional support to Nicola, Sandro, Marina, Roberto, Micol, Giovanni, Paska and Ghespe.
